Buying Firewood For A Campfire

Buying firewood in advance of going camping will ensure you have enough, in case they don’t sell them there. For prevention of disease or pest spread, buy locally-sourced wood.

If you’re planning to light an outdoor fire for a short period, consider using softwoods, but keep in mind they produce more smoke and sparks than hardwoods will.

Buying Packaged Logs For Firewood

The logs of firewood may be sold individually or in cases. A variety of materials can be used, such as real wood charcoal, recycled wood, agricultural fibers, recycled and waxed cardboard, and so forth.

Compared to real wood, some biomass products may produce smaller amounts of carbon dioxide, greenhouse gases, and creosote. In addition to generating more heat than the same amount of real wood, some manufactured logs also keep more heat in. Make sure you read the product label for more information.

Cords, Bundles, And Other Measures For Buying Firewood

Pallets, cords, face cords, and bundles are the most common ways to buy firewood.

A full cord equals 128 cubic feet of firewood stacked 8 feet high and 4 feet deep. For most fireplaces, wood stoves, or fire pits, you will need to cut the logs again after buying a cord of firewood.

In general, a face cord measures eight feet long by four feet tall and has a volume of 64 cubic feet. A face cord is 1/3 of a full cord since the logs are 16 inches long.

There are a variety of types of firewood available at Fallen Tree Firewood, including bundles, individual logs, cases on logs, and pallets. Large amounts of firewood can be delivered or hauled yourself if you buy them in bulk. We can provide you with a rental truck if you need one.
